We recently had the opportunity to inspect a 500-ton overhead crane. During the inspection, the condition of the overhead crane was visually mapped using NDT, with the focus on maintenance and residual lifespan.

To check the technical condition and design details of the overhead crane, a 0 measurement was carried out. Due to the limited accessibility of the parts of the overhead crane, an action plan has been drawn up previously. This crane is used intensively 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

During the baseline measurement, any deviations were checked, potential risks were identified and advice was given on possible next steps. The next steps relate to maintenance activities that ensure the continuity and installation availability of the crane. In addition to visual inspection, non-destructive testing was also carried out during the inspection. Inspections were carried out internally in the construction using an endoscope to provide insight into the condition of locations that are difficult to assess.

The inspection data is elaborated by our technical specialists per crane part in detailed inspection sheets, where the findings and advice are supplemented with an advisory report.
